True Friends Are Hard To Find
Friendship is based on trust and love. Friendship and trust are like mirrors you can fix them when it’s broken, but you will still see the cracks. However, sometimes it becomes difficult to ignore these cracks or permanently erase them.
Sarah’s dearest pals were Margaret and Clara. They were all the best friends in school, and they always did all of the school events together, making many memories. Even after they graduated from high school, they never forgot about one other, and they made an effort to spend time together despite their hectic schedules. There was another girl named Marielle, she was the type of person who was on the invisible spectrum to Sarah. They all lived in the same town, so they would occasionally cross paths on the streets and make small talk.
They had all gone to a cafe one evening in the evening. While Sarah was conversing, her supervisor called and said, “Sarah, please come to the office quickly, there is an important meeting.” Sarah informed her friends “I have to leave the office because something urgent has come up! We’ll catch up later, sorry “. “No worries, see you later,” they said, as Sarah got her bag and headed to work. She met Marielle while traveling. Marielle, as usual, invited her to join her for a cup of coffee. Sarah was so agitated off by the urgent call from the workplace that she ignored it straight away and got to work.
Sarah arrived to work. She was disappointed and stressed after the meeting because it was unsuccessful, resulting in a significant loss for her firm. So she left for home early, and as she was driving home, she was wondering what went wrong. How are they going to solve this? While driving, her mind was racing with thoughts. A truck was approaching her as she crossed the street. She didn’t notice the truck and it hit her.
The next day she found herself in hospital. Her left hand was fractured and there were scars on her face and a she was bandaged on her head too. She opened her eyes and said “Where am I? What happened with me?” The nurse was there with her, she said that “You met with a car accident yesterday and you are in a hospital.” Sarah asked her “Did you call anyone and told about my accident?” the nurse replied that she had called her family member from her phone, but no one received the call. Sarah asked her “Can you please give me my phone back? I want to call my friend and tell them about my accident” So the nurse gave her the phone back and went out of the room.
She called Margaret and said “Margaret! I met with a car accident yesterday and now I am in the hospital will you please come here.” Margaret said, “Actually I would come but I am seriously very busy with my office stuff, so I can’t come to meet you.” Sarah was depressed and attempted to phone Clara, but she did not answer. She was disappointed because none of her closest friends could come to meet her. She was released from the hospital after a few days, but her friends never came to visit her in the hospital.
She was in her house watching TV. There was nothing interesting to watch on tv, so while switching between channels she stumbled upon one channel. Where they were showing an interview with a monk named Fred who lived in a city, but he lived a very simple life. He teaches people some lessons about life. He said, “Friendship is like parts of the tree, it has leaves, branches, and roots.”
He explained that friends like leaves are meant to leave. They are meant to be in our lives for a temporary period. Friends like leaves are amazing in the beginning but they often take more than they are willing to give. Friends like branches are the one who says, “I am here for you.” But as soon as things get tough, they break off as they can’t carry much weight. Those branches are made for a purpose, but they don’t last for longer. Friends like roots are permanent. They are the ones who go through every problem with you. They break apart, fall apart only to build you. When friends like leaves and branches are blown away or broken off, friends like roots will never leave you.
Sarah was deep in thought after seeing the show about who her real best friend is. While Sarah was contemplating, the doorbell rang, and she opened the door to see Marielle standing there. Sarah asked, “Marielle what happened? What brought you here?” Marielle said, “Nothing happened with me. I’m here for you.” Sarah said to come in. Marielle asked “What exactly happened with you? How are you feeling now? Sarah replied, “I’m fine.” And she explained to Marielle what exactly happened with her.
After some talking about the accident Marielle was about to leave, Sarah came near her and hugged her and said, “I behaved very rudely and carelessly with you I always used to ignore you. I’m very sorry please pardon me.” Marielle said, “I always cared about you and wanted you to be happy. Yes, I will forgive you because I’m your friend”. Sarah said, “Thank you for always begin nice to me, I will never leave you alone now.”
